Pregnant workers and mothers should not have to choose between feeding their families and their health. Yet, amidst a global pandemic and economic recession, too many women have been forced to do just that. But there is a solution: Congress must immediately pass the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act and the PUMP Act to help ensure dignity, security, and equity for pregnant workers and nursing mothers.

Now is time for Congress to take action to ensure pregnant and breastfeeding workers can stay healthy, remain employed, and earn their income when they and their child need it the most. These measures are especially critical for women working in low wage jobs on the frontlines, particular mothers of color, who have faced disproportionate risks to their health and higher unemployment rates during the pandemic.
