Through policy work, strategic litigation and direct legal services, and public education, our expert legal team combats discrimination against pregnant workers and caregivers, and advances fair and supportive workplace policies. When we value the work of providing care—too often marginalized due to a long history of sexism and racism—our families, our communities, and our nation are healthier and stronger.

A Better Balance is working to guarantee that pregnant women across the country have a clear right to reasonable accommodations on the job, because a woman’s wellbeing and financial security should not depend on luck or location. Learn more

Nearly half of all workers in the U.S. actively care for a child or elder relative but few have access to flexible work arrangements to help them manage those responsibilities. Existing law does little to help these workers and we can do better. Learn more

Breastfeeding While Working

Nursing moms should not be penalized at work simply because they want to provide food for their babies. A Better Balance is working to ensure that nursing mothers know their rights in the workplace, and helping to ensure that the laws designed to support them are properly enforced. Learn more
