On the heels of Labor Day, and as part of our continued momentum building pressure on our lawmakers to protect pregnant and postpartum workers once and for all, we joined together with national and New York-based coalition partners to run a full-page ad in Newsday, calling on Senate Majority Leader Schumer to bring the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act to a vote in the Senate without delay.

“Time is running out. Pregnant and postpartum workers can’t afford to wait,” reads the ad. “This September, bring the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act to the Senate floor for a vote.”

Amidst a maternal health crisis, labor shortage, and economic troubles, working women and families are counting on our lawmakers to take action and provide pregnant and postpartum workers across the country with a right to reasonable accommodations on the job. The House already passed the bill with overwhelming support in May 2021. The Senate has the votes to pass the bill and must prioritize bringing the bill to a vote in September. Join the growing call to put an end to the mistreatment countless women still face every day as they are forced to choose between their job and a healthy pregnancy – tell the Senate to pass the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act NOW.
