“Today’s historic confirmation of Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court of the United States is a proud and thrilling moment in our nation’s history. With Justice Jackson’s extensive qualifications and background in public service defending society’s most vulnerable, her confirmation is a momentous win at a moment when the rights of so many individuals and families are under threat. At A Better Balance, we believe passionately in the power of the law to advance justice for workers. Due to structural racism, Black women in particular have too often been forced to choose between their jobs and their own health or the health of their loved ones. As the first Black woman confirmed to the Supreme Court and as a working mother, Justice Jackson intimately understands the struggles that have shaped the lives of women of color—and her confirmation brings us closer to the day when the highest court in the land actually reflects the people it serves. We wish Justice Jackson and her family our heartfelt congratulations and know her voice and decision-making will be pivotal in so many important fights for justice and equality.”
