A Better Balance works with states and cities across the country to craft and pass strong paid family leave policies. Local governments in at least 45 states, from North Carolina to Montana to Texas, have enacted paid family leave policies for their own employees to care for a new child or a seriously ill loved one. These local public sector polices set a strong example for private-sector employers and help lay the groundwork for statewide paid family leave programs.
