Steven serves as the Chief Operating Officer at A Better Balance, having joined the organization in 2023, and brings nearly twenty years of experience forwarding social justice initiatives on multiple fronts, including sexual health, immigrant rights, LGBTQ rights and education reform. Steven holds a Master’s in Public Administration from the Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service at New York University and Bachelor’s degree in Latin American Studies and Economics from Wesleyan University.
Prior to his current role, Steven served as Deputy Director of the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health working to advance reproductive justice nationally, and then as Chief Operating Officer at Power of Two, a New York City-based organization working to address intergeneration trauma in historically underserved communities, creating the conditions for both organizations to scale in funding, size and impact. Earlier, Steven worked as Project Director at the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network to promote safe and affirming school environments for all students, particularly LGBTQ students of color. He is part of the Aspen Global Leadership Network and an Education Pioneer Fellowship alum. Steven lives in the Bronx, NY with his twin children, husband and two dogs.
