Abby Graf Subak

Abby Graf Subak is Vice President of Programs at The Nonprofit Alliance, the premier membership association working to promote, protect, and strengthen the nonprofit sector through policy advocacy, education, and community. She leads the creation and facilitation of cutting-edge programs and convenings for senior leadership across the nonprofit sector. With an eye to ‘elevating the expertise in the room,’ Abby builds support networks, expertise, and the leadership capacity across the nonprofit sector. Serving mission-focused organizations of all sizes, issues, and strategies, she touches some of the most impactful organizations doing work in the U.S. today.

With more than 25 years of experience in nonprofits, she has extensive experience in fundraising, program development, advocacy, strategic planning, and community organizing. Previously, Abby served as the Director of the Women’s Leadership Center at Omega Institute, working to support community leaders as they developed their vision, voice, and path to social impact. As the Director of Organizing at Idealist.org, she launched the international Idealist Days program alongside the Founder and Executive Director. As the Executive Director at Arts Gowanus, she grew a one-project organization into a year-round, fully-programmed, city-wide force for artists and the sustainability of the creative community in New York. She has been honored to be a Board Member of Puppet Showplace Theater in Boston, Wild Earth in the Hudson Valley, and now an Advisory Board Member for Freedom House Theater in Pittsburgh. She holds a B.A from Tulane University, a Certificat from L’Institut de Sciences Politiques, and a Certificate of Social Impact Strategy from the University of Pennsylvania. She lives in Brooklyn, NY, where she can be found at art openings, walking in the park, knitting, discussing the critical issues of our times, and hanging out with her two twenty-something kids.
