LGBTQ Workers and the FMLA

The Supreme Court’s marriage equality decision in 2015 granted full recognition of same-sex spouses under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), which means that now LGBT workers in all 50 states can be eligible to take FMLA leave to care for a same-sex spouse. And before the Supreme Court’s ruling, ABB was advocating for the broadest interpretation of the FMLA to include same-sex spouses, regardless of where they live.
