When you are sick, you shouldn’t be forced to go to work. It’s bad for you, your co-workers, and your employer.
While many Americans take paid sick time for granted, 37 million of us can’t stay home when we are sick for fear of losing a day’s pay or even a job. Even fewer workers can take time off when a child or another family member is sick.
A Better Balance is drafting, passing, and implementing laws to guarantee all Americans access to paid sick time when they need it to care for themselves and for their loved ones.

The Healthy Families Act
The proposed Healthy Families Act (S.840 /H.R. 1784) was last reintroduced in the House and Senate in 2019. The bill would guarantee workers the right to earn up to 7 paid sick days a year to address their own health needs or to care for a sick family member.
