Astrid joined A Better Balance in August 2020 as a Legal Fellow. She graduated from NYU School of Law in 2019. Most recently, Astrid served as an NYU Reproductive Justice and Women’s Rights Fellow at the Center for Reproductive Rights. Prior to law school, she worked as a paralegal and legal assistant with the ACLU’s Racial Justice Program and Human Rights Program. During her time at NYU Law, Astrid was part of the Reproductive Justice Clinic and Global Justice Clinic, and served on the boards of If/When/How: Lawyering for Reproductive Justice, OUTLaw, and the Identity Documentation Project. She interned at the Center for Justice and International Law in Costa Rica and the Center for Reproductive Rights. Astrid served as the Articles Selection Editor Liaison for NYU’s Review of Law and Social Change, and was awarded the Birnbaum Women’s Leadership Network’s inaugural Abby Lyn Gillette Research Assistantship. Astrid graduated from Emory University in 2013 and was a Latinx Rights Scholar at NYU Law.
