On Wednesday, July 14th at 12 pm EST, we hosted a conversation about the ongoing fight to advance racial justice across the South through policy advocacy at the state and local levels. The panel was moderated by ABB Staff Attorney Kameron Dawson and featured Mississippi State Representative Lataisha Jackson, Tennessee State Representative London Lamar, Kiley Mayfield of the National Birth Equity Collective, Jackie McGranahan of the ACLU of Kentucky, and Cassandra Welchlin of the Mississippi Black Women’s Roundtable.

During this session, panelists highlighted positive legislation filed in Southern states in 2021 that promotes equity and advances racial justice. Panelists also discussed strategies to push back on racist legislation in Southern states, and the importance of self and community care for advocates, especially those who identify as Black or people of color.

Thank you to our incredible panelists for sharing your insights, we are honored to continue this important work in partnership with you.
