Telework Enhancement Act

computerworkerOn December 9, 2010, President Obama signed into law the Telework Enhancement Act of 2010, which will create new opportunities for federal employees to work remotely.

Under this law, each executive agency must establish a policy authorizing telework, determine whether employees are eligible to telework, and notify all employees of their eligibility. Among other requirements, the law mandates equal treatment of teleworkers and non-teleworkers with regard to work requirements, performance reviews, promotions, and removals. To assist with implementation, each agency is required to create a telework training program and to designate a Telework Managing Officer.
